Buccal Lifting Massage | Newburgh, IN | Beauty Bloom Wellness & Skincare

Meet Our Founding Member: Beauty Bloom Wellness & Skincare in Newburgh, Indiana

If you've heard about Buccal Lifting Massage or seen intraoral facial massage on social media and wondered what it actually is, you may be surprised to learn that this unique facial massage technique is available right here in the Evansville TriState.

Recently, I had the opportunity to experience Sculptural-Buccal (pronounced ‘BUCK-ul’) Lifting Massage with Deanna, owner and esthetician at Beauty Bloom Wellness Skincare in Newburgh, Indiana.

One of my favorite parts of creating TriState Beauty Hub has been discovering treatments, services, and talented beauty professionals right here in our own community — including experiences that, even after 19 years as an esthetician, are new to me.

I went into the appointment not only as the owner of TriState Beauty Hub, but as an esthetician who genuinely loves learning about different skincare techniques, facial massage methods, wellness services, and experiences within our industry.

Driving home after my appointment, I had one of those moments where I just felt incredibly grateful that I created TriState Beauty Hub.  This is exactly why the Hub exists.  There are incredibly talented beauty and wellness professionals throughout Southern Indiana, Western Kentucky, and Southern Illinois offering services and experiences that people may not even realize are available locally.

Being able to experience those services, learn more about the professionals behind them, and then help connect our community with them is something I am truly grateful to be able to do.

But what exactly is Sculptural-Buccal Lifting Massage?
Why does part of the facial massage take place inside the mouth?
What are the potential benefits, and who might enjoy this type of treatment?

Rather than simply tell you about Buccal Lifting Massage from my perspective, I wanted you to hear from Deanna herself — about her background, professional training, what this unique treatment actually involves, and why she chose to bring it to her Newburgh skincare and wellness studio.

Meet Deanna of Beauty Bloom Wellness Skincare in Newburgh, IN

•  How long have you been an esthetician, and what led you to the skincare and wellness industry?

This June marked five years since I became a licensed esthetician, but my journey into skincare really started with my own skin struggles.  For years, I dealt with acne, acne scarring, and post-acne pigmentation. I had no idea which products were right for my skin, and I spent so much money trying different skincare without seeing results. I’m originally from Latvia, and after moving to the United States, my skin became even worse. At the time, we were living in Chicago, and I tried seeking help from local spas, but unfortunately, nothing seemed to help—in fact, my skin often became more irritated.

Everything changed during a trip back to Latvia to visit my family. Someone recommended a local medical esthetician, and that experience completely changed the way I looked at skincare. She simplified my routine to just a few carefully selected products, and without any in-clinic treatments, over the course of about a year my skin became healthier than it had been in years.  That transformation made me want to understand why it worked. I became fascinated with skin health, ingredients, and the science behind professional skincare. My esthetician in Latvia encouraged me to attend beauty school in the U.S.  I received my esthetics education and license through The Salon Professional Academy (TSPA), where I had a wonderful foundation, but I knew I wanted to continue learning beyond my initial education.

Since then, I’ve pursued additional professional training and education from educators in Latvia, Italy, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, and Moldova.  My own experience is still a big part of how I work with clients today. I know what it feels like to spend money on products and treatments and still feel like nothing is working. That’s why I’m passionate about looking at the skin as a whole, simplifying when necessary, continuing my education, and helping each client find an approach that actually makes sense for their individual skin.

•  How would you describe your philosophy or approach to skincare and the experience you want your clients to have?

My philosophy is that healthy skin comes first. I don’t believe in chasing quick fixes or doing treatments simply because they are popular. Every person’s skin is different, so my approach is always customized to what that individual skin truly needs. I believe skincare should be both corrective and restorative. We can work toward real changes—whether that means addressing acne, pigmentation, signs of aging, or overall skin health—without constantly overwhelming or compromising the skin barrier.

Sometimes more is not better. The right products, the right treatments, and consistency can make a much bigger difference.  I also look beyond just the surface of the skin. Lifestyle, stress, nutrition, hormones, home care, and daily habits can all play a role in what we see on the outside. I love educating my clients so they understand their skin.

At the same time, I strongly believe that skincare is also self-care. I want my clients to see progress in their skin, but I also want their appointment to be a time when they can slow down, relax, and take care of themselves.  When a client comes to see me, I want them to feel that this time is completely about them. I want them to feel comfortable, cared for, and confident that their treatment is being customized specifically for their skin and their needs.  When they leave, I hope they feel refreshed, relaxed, and more confident in their skin. And beyond the immediate glow, I want them to feel like they have a plan and someone they can trust to guide them on their skincare journey.

Let's Talk Sculptural-Buccal Lifting Massage

•  What first interested you in Sculptural-Buccal Lifting Massage?

What first interested me in Sculpting and Buccal Massage was how different it was from a traditional facial massage. I was fascinated by the idea that we could work with the deeper facial muscles, including from inside the mouth, rather than focusing only on the surface of the skin.

Coming from a European background, I have always been interested in hands-on techniques and approaches that support natural beauty. I loved that Buccal Lifting Massage is a non-invasive way to sculpt and lift the face while also releasing tension, especially through the jaw and lower face.

The more I learned about the technique, the more interested I became in the connection between facial tension, muscle function, circulation, and the way the face looks and feels. I also loved that it fits so naturally with my philosophy: a treatment doesn’t have to be either results-driven or relaxing—it can be both.

•  Tell us about your training in lymphatic sculpting and Buccal Lifting Massage.

My training has been very hands-on and strongly influenced by European techniques and education.

First, I traveled to Florida to train with a highly educated and experienced instructor. It was an intensive two-day, hands-on training that included both in-depth theory and a significant amount of practical work. We focused on understanding the facial muscles, proper techniques, intraoral massage, sculpting movements, and how to perform the treatment safely and effectively.

Since then, I have continued expanding my education and have completed additional hands-on trainings in Latvia with talented and experienced European educators. Each training has allowed me to learn different techniques and refine my approach.

I believe strongly in continuing education. There is always more to learn about facial anatomy, muscle tension, and different hands-on techniques, so I continue to build on my training and bring what I learn into my treatments.

•  For someone who has never heard of it, what exactly is Sculptural-Buccal Lifting Massage — and why work inside the mouth?

Sculptural-Buccal Lifting Massage is a specialized, non-invasive facial massage that works deeply with the muscles of the face, jaw, neck, décolleté and scalp. The sculptural portion works externally to lift, contour, and release tension, while the buccal portion is performed inside the mouth with gloves, allowing us to access deeper facial and jaw muscles from both sides.

Buccal massage is valuable because many of the muscles that hold deep tension in the face and jaw can be accessed more directly from inside the mouth. Working intraorally allows me to address these muscles from a different angle than with external facial massage alone.

It can help reduce facial puffiness and muscle tension, improve circulation and lymphatic flow, and create a more lifted, defined, and refreshed appearance. It can also be helpful for people who experience jaw clenching, tightness, or TMJ-related discomfort.

I like to describe it as a workout and deep release for the facial muscles at the same time.

•  How does it differ from a traditional facial massage?

The biggest difference is the level and precision of muscle work. A traditional facial massage is often performed with softer, more relaxing movements and primarily works superficially.

Sculptural-Buccal Massage is much more intentional and dynamic. We work along the natural structure of the face, paying attention to how individual muscles feel and where a client may be holding tension or imbalance. Different areas may need completely different pressure and techniques.

Another difference is that the treatment is very hands-on and personalized. I’m constantly feeling the tissue and adjusting my technique based on what I find rather than following exactly the same massage sequence for every client. It gives me a completely different understanding of what is happening beneath the surface of the face.

•  What are some of the benefits, and what might someone notice after a treatment?

There are both aesthetic and wellness benefits, which is one of the reasons I love this treatment. Aesthetically, it can help the face appear more sculpted and defined, soften the look of facial tension, reduce puffiness, and create a naturally refreshed appearance.

From a wellness perspective, it can be wonderful for releasing tension. Many clients don’t realize how much tension they hold in their face until we begin working with those muscles.

Immediately after a session, many clients notice that their face looks more lifted, sculpted, and refreshed. Clients also frequently tell me that their jaw and face simply feel lighter and more relaxed.

With consistent treatments, we are able to continue working with areas where the muscles tend to hold tension. Over time, clients may notice that their face feels less tight, especially if they tend to clench their jaw, and the sculpted appearance can become easier to maintain.

I always explain that this is not about changing your face overnight. It’s about supporting the muscles and tissues consistently and enhancing your natural facial structure in a very holistic way.

•  Who is a good candidate?

One of the things I love about Sculptural-Buccal Lifting Massage is that it can be beneficial for many different ages and concerns. You don’t have to wait until you see significant signs of aging to incorporate facial massage into your routine.

It can be a great option for someone who wants a natural, non-invasive approach to maintaining their facial appearance, as well as people who feel they carry stress in their face or jaw. I also love it for clients who simply want to be proactive about aging and incorporate more hands-on, holistic treatments into their self-care routine.

Every face is different, so I always evaluate the client individually and adjust the treatment to their facial structure, muscle tone, and specific needs.

•  Are there situations when someone should wait to receive the treatment?

Yes. Even though Sculptural-Buccal Lifting Massage is non-invasive, there are situations when I recommend waiting. This includes active cold sores or other infections in or around the mouth, open wounds, significant inflammation, active dental infections or recent dental/oral procedures, and when someone is feeling acutely ill.

I also ask about recent cosmetic procedures. After Botox, dermal fillers, threads, facial surgery, or other injectable treatments, I recommend waiting until the appropriate healing period has passed and, when necessary, getting clearance from the treating medical provider.

Safety always comes before the treatment. That’s why I review each client’s health history and recent procedures beforehand rather than assuming Buccal Massage is appropriate for everyone at every time.

•  How often do you recommend it, and is there anything clients should know before or after an appointment?

It really depends on the client and what they want to achieve. For general self-care and maintenance, once a month is a wonderful addition to a regular skincare routine.

For someone who is looking for more noticeable sculpting results or who carries a lot of facial and jaw tension, I may recommend starting with a series of treatments closer together, and then transitioning to monthly maintenance.

There really isn’t a lot of preparation required. I recommend arriving well hydrated and avoiding a very heavy meal immediately beforehand, since part of the treatment is performed inside the mouth.

Afterward, I encourage clients to drink plenty of water and give their body time to enjoy the relaxed feeling from the treatment. Some mild muscle tenderness can occasionally happen after deeper work, similar to how your body may feel after a massage.

•  What do you wish more people knew about Sculptural-Buccal Lifting Massage?

I wish more people knew that Sculptural-Buccal Lifting Massage is so much more than a beauty treatment. While people often come for the sculpting and lifting effect, they are surprised by how deeply relaxing it can be and how much tension they’ve been holding in their face and jaw.

It’s really a beautiful combination of skincare, wellness, and self-care.
